Before you settle into your new and developing eLearning community, ask yourself: How much is my state or school district spending on EdTech each year?
The answer, for the most part, is ambiguous at best. Estimates have put spending in U.S. schools between 26 and 41 billion dollars annually on education technology, and experts say even this estimate is largely conservative. In most cases, these actors purchase EdTech products without truly understanding what it is actually supposed to do, how it is supposed to be used, how it measures up against similar products, and why it’s necessary in the first place.
This is why we need you! What can we, as educators, do to offer solutions to our peers, our districts, and state leaders when choosing EdTech solutions to meet the needs of students and communities?
Your union is looking for classroom teachers to share their experiences with these EdTech tools, both new and old, and consider questions like:
What has worked for you? What hasn’t worked, and why?
How are the EdTech tools you’re given selected? How can the process be improved?
What solutions do you think are missing from the world of EdTech? How can we as educators tell companies what we want?
